What does a Legal Nurse Consultant do?​
A legal nurse consultant reviews medical records and provides clinical analysis to support attorneys in cases that involve healthcare. That can mean evaluating whether care met the standard, identifying documentation issues, summarizing complex records, or attending an independent exam and documenting what occurs. Essentially, I translate the medical picture into something your legal team can work with.

What types of cases do you work on?​
I support personal injury, medical malpractice, and workers' compensation cases, with particular depth in emergency medicine, trauma, flight and prehospital care, and nursing home litigation. If you're unsure whether your case fits, reach out and describe it briefly — I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit.

What makes you different from other legal nurse consultants?
Two things stand out. First, my clinical background is unusually broad — I've worked ERs, ICUs, flight programs, and prehospital EMS across different settings, so I understand care delivery from multiple angles. Second, I offer IME and independent exam observation, which is a service most LNCs don't provide. Being present in the exam room as a trained clinical observer gives attorneys documentation they can't get any other way.

Do you work with plaintiff or defense attorneys?
Both. My role is to provide objective clinical analysis, not to advocate for either side. The records say what they say, and I report what I find — accurately and completely. Many attorneys appreciate having a consultant who approaches cases without bias.

What does the review process look like?
​We start with a brief conversation about your case and what you need. Once we agree on scope, you send the records — electronically is fine. I complete the review and deliver a written work product in your preferred format. I'm available for follow-up questions throughout the process, and I'll flag anything significant I find along the way.

How long does a record review take?​
It depends on the volume of records and the complexity of the case. After our initial conversation, I'll give you a realistic timeline before we begin. I'm straightforward about turnaround — I won't overpromise, and I don't miss deadlines. Typically, I ask for the full set of medical records, related reports, and any specific questions or areas of concern you would like addressed. An audit trail may also be requested along with a brief summary of the case or claim is also helpful.
​Can I request a sample work product before engaging you?​
Yes. I'm happy to share a redacted sample so you can see the format and level of detail I provide. Just reach out and ask.
