About Emily Sweatman,
BSN, RN, CEN, CFRN, FP-C, CCEMT-P, Legal Nurse Consultant
I didn't come to legal nurse consulting from a classroom. I came from two decades on the front lines of emergency medicine — working ERs, ICUs, Pre-hospital and flight programs across rural, suburban, and urban systems. I've cared for patients in the back of a helicopter and trauma bays and I've seen firsthand what happens when care goes right and what happens when it doesn't.

That clinical depth is what I bring to every case. As a Legal Nurse Consultant, I review medical records with the same attention I gave to a critical patient — methodically, thoroughly, and without skipping anything. I know how to read a nursing note, a medication administration record, an EMS run sheet, and a transfer summary. I know what should be documented, when it should have been done, and what it means when it's missing.

One area where I stand apart from many LNCs is IME and independent exam observation. I attend independent medical exams and workers' compensation evaluations as an objective witness, documenting what occurs with clinical precision. Attorneys have told me that having a trained clinician in the room — someone who understands the exam process and can document deviations from standard practice — has made a meaningful difference in their cases. It's the kind of support that's hard to replicate.

I built this practice because I believe that when someone has been harmed, the clinical truth matters. Likewise, the wrongfully accused also deserve to be supported. Attorneys deserve a consulting partner who gives them accurate, organized information and tells them honestly what the records support. That's what I do.
